One point missed in Medusa's statement above is that to me, all that stuff is obvious. It was the way I was raised with a WW II vet father, a college educated mother and two super intelligent older sisters. Respect started at home.
At the very end of the baby boom generation the polite manners of the proper home was shattered by Viet Nam and the 60-70's free love generation.
My gawd was it great to be around in the 70's, trust me. Drugs were clean and fresh, STD's very rare and women of all varieties were very open about their sexual needs. The drinking age in Massachusetts was 18 years old. Clubs played live rock mixed with disco during the breaks. When rock was played, the disco types went out for a smoke and breath of air and vice versa.
Smart gals, older women , hot bookworm transformations at puberty, and Irish girls with brunette hair, freckles and blue eyes were my type and as readily available as conch shells on the Cape Cod beaches in summer.
I was not a playah, I was a romantic. I loved conversation and stared intently into my dates' eyes, responding to their queries as if alone with them in their world. There was no need for a posse or bullpen and if you had a love making session it wasn't required to call back as everyone was experimenting with their sexuality. The gentleman in me always asked, "Would you like me to give you a call ?" and I was never shattered by a "No" response. It was the age.
Not a one of my friends ever got a disease and only one had a shotgun wedding.
----------------------------------------
Now to today. Everything has to be an "event" shared with your circle, your My Space friends and ultimately , the world via the web. There is no discretion.
In the most wide spread cultural development of this generation, Rap Music, women are considered bitches. This started in the urban areas but soon middle America decided that okay, woman are our bitches. At that point the mean/average intelligence level and expectations of our youth was lowered dramatically.
I'm serious here. It's not a racist thing on my part either because white people have accepted this as readily as black people.
Now when a society in general decides that people are the equivalent of animals you have big problems. Rwandan genocide comes to mind. But keeping it light as this is a douchebag oriented website young boys are taught that women are not equals, they are animals. Women are taught this is how men are you must accept it.
The occassional Medusa and Ashfish see through this not just because it's ridiculous but they've escaped from the rampant commercialsm of EVERY FUCKING THING on the planet. To normal people an event should be epic as in a new museum opening or the Super Bowl or a walk in the park with a toddler or that once in a lifetime vacation to Santa Barbara NOT "dude we got wasted and fucked bitches!"
I get it , I see the allure of a Snoop Dogg or even an intelligent guy like LL Cool J but the fact is they are part of the problem not the solution.
So punkasses like Acey Douchey become what passes for "everyday".
Douchebags are followers. It's the way they are wired. Notice the same GLEAM in the eyes of VelveetaBag, Head Injury Hal and any other self proclaimed "Mood Director". They direct my mood in one direction: Pissed the fuck off.
Now, get a haircut, sit up straight, and for FUCKS SAKE pull up you goddamn pants Generation Y.
